South Africa: Internationalising Businesses to the UK

Bridge International was a one-year pilot project to promote international trade between South Africa and the UK. The project was funded by Barclays ABSA (SA) through their Enterprise Development fund.  Bridge International’s purpose was to launch exciting ventures with potential to grow internationally.

Lianne Taylor’s style of teaching and her emphasise in terms of evaluating facts from different perspectives made the decision making skills one of my strengths. Furthermore, her networking amazingly inspired us by our guests’ speakers and enables us to evaluate real business life.

Dr Lianne Taylor’s desire to deliver an exceptional framework and foundation towards the psychological understanding of persons and situations, covering their behaviour and personality, therefore broadening my knowledge and uncovering my skills and abilities, whilst helping me to achieve my potential with imperative advice, from herself and her guest speakers.

Lianne is undoubtedly the person that motivated me the most to keep pursuing what I believed in during my time in the UK. She was able to accurately read the essence of me as a person and was always selflessly ready to help me. She proved to be very demanding, tough and at the same time fair and empathic. She pushed me to the limit and got the best out of me. Her own determination inspired me to follow my gut feeling when necessary. I am very grateful for all the valuable time she dedicated me and I still constantly go back to our intense conversations to feel motivated when I need it.

‘Lianne Taylor’s enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and education encouraged me to become an ‘Entrepreneur in Residence’ for CEDAR (Centre for Enterprise Development and Research) and it was a very rewarding experience. The important part for me apart from CEDAR being a well organised group was that I could see that we made a difference. Different countries and cultures need different approaches within communication and approach to business and education and CEDAR recognised this.  Lianne and her team’s professionalism and expertise meant that all projects successfully met and exceeded the client expectations.

Lianne has played a fundamental role in the early stages of our business development, her extensive academic knowledge alongside her wealth of experience in commercial strategy makes her a unique and world class business consultant.

I have known Lianne in both a personal and professional capacity for over 20 years and know that whatever she takes on, she will complete this with full dedication and focus. She is an excellent sounding board and critical reflector and always surprises me by inviting me to view problems and challenges from a different angle. She is incredibly well read and totally up to date with the latest research and theories.
We have collaborated on inspiring Young Entrepreneurs to Succeed, a SHELL funded project, and at least twice a year she invites me to work with her students on developing and sharpening their business ideas and pitch.
